Street Children KAMPALA
The street children experience hell on earth!
In Kampala, the capital of Uganda, an estimated 10,000 children live on the streets. Our project leader Caleb was himself one of these street children. His parents could no longer feed him, and so Caleb became one of these street children at just seven years old—alone, abandoned, and without any possessions.
Filthy, neglected, and malnourished, the poor girls and boys present a devastating sight. People look away in disgust. Many children are sexually abused, beaten, or forced into hard physical labor. And the agonizing hunger is ever-present…
Our friend and project partner Caleb was fortunate after 7 years on the streets—and he decided to share it with others!
I experienced the misery on the streets myself and still see it today in the eyes of the children who come to us for food and help. I am grateful for the support from donors, because it enables us to be the saving way out from the streets for many children.
Caleb uses his own experience to help. His street children's feeding program in Kampala provides a nutritious, warm meal to up to 180 children several times a week. Children who develop trust often find a safe home in one of Caleb's children's homes. There, around 750 girls and boys currently receive the happy childhood they deserve, are cared for, and attend school to learn for a self-determined future.
Every day is a fight for bare survival.
Almost unimaginable for us: the smallest children, some only 2 or 3 years old, fight utterly alone on the streets of Kampala for bare survival. The children must beg to satisfy their hunger and thirst, but what they experience is rejection, violence, and abuse. People are afraid of these poor children, treat them like ghosts, and look away.
Life on the streets is harsh; there is no love, care, or recognition. The children are hungry, thirsty, and frightened. But what breaks their young souls is the loneliness and rejection from people.
A Way Out for Kampala's Street Children
The way out of street life often begins at the place where Caleb has established a food distribution center for the street children. As a former street child himself, he knows exactly what fears and worries torment the little ones and what comforts them in their saddest moments. When girls or boys develop trust, Caleb offers them the chance for a better future: in the safety and care of his children's homes.
Refuge for poor young souls urgently needed!
Street children in Uganda fight daily for survival. His street children's feeding program means survival assistance and hope. In his homes, they find help, can be children again, have dreams, learn, and look forward to a future worth living.
Please do not look away and support Caleb's commitment to the poor children of the streets with your donation!
