Orphanage Zambia

ALARMING FIGURES FROM ZAMBIA

It's no wonder that half of the population is malnourished, as 60% of Zambians live below the poverty line of approx. US$1.90 per day. Food prices are soaring. Children are the worst affected: one in three toddlers is underdeveloped due to hunger.

It is not uncommon for children to be abandoned by their parents: in landfills, in dumpsters, or even latrines.

Most of the children in the "Daughters of Zion" orphanage experienced a similarly devastating start to life. Fortunately, our friend and project partner Shani was able to take them out of misery...

Some of our protégés came to us as tiny infants, closer to death than to life, after being discarded like trash. For my colleagues and me, the girls and boys are like our own children.

Shani, Project Manager Zambia

Our children's home director, Shani, puts her heart and soul into caring for the girls and boys under her protection. She cares for around 30 children, ensuring they grow into healthy, happy children and later confident, kind-hearted adults who help lead their country to a better future.

Sophy, Belle, and James: the trio of fate

On the same day that passers-by follow the desperate cries of a small baby girl and rescue her from a stinking dumpster, two other helpless babies are left alone near a hospital. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon in poverty-stricken Zambia. The local police ask us to take in the three abandoned babies. And so we pick up the trio of fate from the station...

All three found a place with us

These poor, carelessly discarded and nameless babies are now called Sophy, Belle, and James. Just like all the other children with Shani, they deserve to have a good life and grow up with the love, care, and attention that every child deserves.

Food prices are exploding!

Our children's home director Shani has tears in her eyes when she sees the food bills: she needs about 2,000 Euros per month just for food to feed all the children – and then there's medical care, and school attendance is not free in Zambia either.

Please help Shani with your Donate to be there for her protégés every day!
