South Sudan Emergency Relief

The war is over, but their suffering continues!

Unrest, violence, floods: The people of South Sudan are suffering from so much. Hardly anyone is able to help in the remote regions where hundreds of thousands are starving – but we are!

For more than a decade, we have seen the broken gazes of parents who had to bury their own children. The shock of children whose parents have been murdered. For all of them, we fight our way through mosquito-infested swamps, defy threatening rebel attacks, and brave impassable terrain. We are their last hope!

Almost no one but us is willing or able to bring aid to the people in the most remote corners of South Sudan. It is so important that we continue. Mission after mission, village after village, person after person. And we can only do this with your Donate support!

Monte E. Wilson, Head of Emergency Operations

South Sudan is suffering from the consequences of its civil war: Millions of people are displaced and hiding in remote regions, some deep in the swamps around the White Nile, from the violence of rebel groups. These people, in particular, can expect little help from large organizations – too far, too difficult to reach, too dangerous. This makes the work of Helfende Hände all the more important.

We help thousands with extensive experience!

Our operations team, led by Monte, knows South Sudan and its people well. Monte knows where we can charter relief supplies, food, and also transport at good prices to reach even the most vulnerable and remote areas where parents are currently fearing for their children.

Helping against hunger where no road leads.

Whether by land, air, or water – no path is too far for us to bring aid supplies to where they are most urgently needed.

From neighboring Uganda, where the aid supplies are purchased, to the South Sudanese capital Juba, our trucks take 10-12 days. From there, they are then transported by boats or even small planes to the refugee groups in the most remote regions.

Hope by Air

We reach cut-off refugee groups by small plane. Few organizations in South Sudan have these capabilities.

Aid by Water

We can only reach survivors in flood-affected areas by barge and canoe. The biggest dangers: crocodiles and rebel groups.

We bring aid supplies into the country

From neighboring Uganda, we transport aid supplies for 1,500 families to the South Sudanese capital Juba. Time required: 10-12 days.

Your Donate saves lives and brings hope!
